The Story:

You received a text message saying you won a prize / cash prize in one of Shell Malaysia's lucky draw. To retrieved your prize, you will be required to call the number provided, which will attempt to get a processing fee and/or your bank details.

Overwhelmed with excitement, you made the payment and provided your bank details.


The Catch:

You never received your cash prize and money were missing from your bank account.

After looking at Shell Malaysia's website, you realised that it was a scam.


The Shield:

Do not respond to the text message.

Shell Malaysia had made a statement on their website that they DO NOT use Short Messaging System (SMS) text message to contact the winners in their contest. All winners are posted on their website and advertised in the media, and will be contacted by a Shell appointed agency. In any case, NO bank details will be required off the contest winner.

Always check with the results that will be posted on Shell's official website.
