Online Love Scam: True Love

The Story:

As part of the mordern society, you use the internet for almost everything, even dating. However, after months, things are not working out. Through an online dating site, you get to know a beautiful lady. Everything is perfect and you quickly find yourself falling in love. Making things even better, the feelings are mutual.

The only problem is that she is from another country. Nevertheless, it doesn't hinder you two from setting up a rendezvous. When the time comes, she informs you that she needs money, because she can't afford the air ticket, there's a natural disaster, causing her to lose everything,or she has just been robbed off her belongings and is now broke, etc.

Desperate to meet your true love, you send her some money without second thought. After all, the small amount of money is nothing compared to love.


The Catch:

However, this is a classic scheme used by many online love scammers. Many times, the "girl" is not even a girl, but a guy from Nigeria, South Africa, or Uganda. What make this scam worse is that many guys continue to send their money away to these scammers after the first round, refusing they had been scammed.


The Shield:

DO NOT send your money to someone you never met. If she require the air ticket, buy it for her (no refund). In addition, you can suggest to fly over to meet her instead, and watch her reactions.
